A great wedding - the Tony Boffa band (they’re always terrific!), cocktails outside and a plated dinner in the ballroom - everything was in place for an incredible night, and Mark and Shaney’s wedding certainly lived up to it.

Eric and Erica had agreed to see each other before the ceremony so that they could enjoy their cocktail hour with their friends, and we got awesome romantic images ahead of time.  As photographers, we hate seeing our clients miss their party, and the first glance (where the groom first sees the bride in her gown) is really powerful.

Okay, here’s my favorite images.  You can click the thumbs for larger images like ever other gallery in the world, and you can comment on them as well.  We’ll have all their images up in a week or two - I’ll post the link here then.  Have fun!

These are the bridesmaids, and Justin, the brides best friend (who was a great bridesMAN).

The Congregational Church in Saco.  Unbelievably beautiful.  Very nicely decorated.

These are on the beach down in Wells.  Actually, it’s Drake’s Island, which doesn’t make me quite as claustrophobic as Wells.

Okay, a few shots from the reception that I really like. If you’re into photography, you’ll recognize the awesome bokeh from a 1.2 lens.  I shoot wide open as much as I can, and the four images belowreally illustrate why.

And finally, a macro shot of the insanely beautiful rings Joey and Jessica gave each other.

This is an ultrawide shot taken with a 12mm lens on the full frame Canon 1DS II.  There is just no other way to capture an entire scene like this than with that hardware combination, and that’s the only reason I point it out.  Pixel peepers will point out that the videographer is distorted on the left of the image, and indeed that’s true.  Wide angle shots distort at the perimeters, and while that could be pushed back into perspective in photoshop, I think it provides a lot of the visual interest of the image.

The ceremony was held on the lawn of a house on Sea Lane - I’m afraid I never did learn whose house it was.  On the far right, you can see the boat landing and harbor of Monhegan, and the island Manana in back.  In front of the wedding attendees are the officiant on the right, the bride and groom standing in front of the right group of chairs, and singers rejoicing in the front.

What’s most amazing about this wedding is only clear after you see the image below:

That’s what the skies looked like at 2:00, when the ceremony was scheduled to begin.  Jenna & Jason decided to push all of their day’s events back by three hours, betting that the weather would clear for them, and when 5:00 rolled around, there was a very different day.  I’ll post more images each day as I develop them.  Thanks for looking - Will
